NATIONAL SERVICE - DRAFT LAWRequiring all men and women to enlist in national service has many positives, as well as negatives. Nations that require this will always have a steady national service ready to defend their land. With everybody required to list, the national security will be safe because the total population will be properly trained in defense of their nation. Forcing people to join the nation's defense could open doors to some people who had no future, and could give hope to be successful. Nations that use this procedure hope that it will create a newfound loyalty to the country, by having the population serve for their country. Forcing people to join the armed forces could create some bad thoughts towards the country. This system could destroy some people's aspirations to become something if they were happen to go to war while being part of the war. The people of the country might feel they have to freedom of choice if they are forced to join, causing a hostile attitude toward their country and its policies. This hostile attitude could make people flee the country or even riot against it. Another draw back to this is if everyone is required to join, the arm forces could get some "bad apples" in soldiers and they could create trouble within the national defense. I am in favor of the U.S. system of selective service rather than forcing everyone to join the armed forces. I do not like the thought of having to become part of the national defense, and going to war. This could potentially ruin my goals I have set for myself, and this applies to many others. I do not agree with our own system by drafting people in times of war. If people want to fight, they'll join, but if a person like me who has a future should not be required to enlist. There should be a standard in the people who get drafted, but our system is much better than other nations who require joining. |
